Overview
This tutorial guides you through modeling the seismic sloshing behavior of a dam-reservoir system in MIDAS GTS NX / MIDAS FEA NX. You will create a two-dimensional model consisting of the concrete dam, rock foundation, and reservoir water using plane-strain and sloshing fluid elements. You will define free-surface and fluid-structure interaction boundaries, generate the finite-element mesh, and apply El Centro ground acceleration. Finally, you will perform nonlinear time history analysis and examine the hydrodynamic pressure generated along the dam-reservoir interface. By completing this quest, you will learn how to: - Create a 2D dam, foundation, and reservoir model - Define elastic solid and sloshing fluid materials - Generate plane-strain and sloshing fluid meshes - Configure free-surface and FSI boundary properties - Apply sloshing constraints and foundation boundaries - Define seismic ground acceleration using an earthquake record - Perform nonlinear time-history analysis and review fluid pressure Note: This quest could be finished using either MIDAS GTS NX or MIDAS FEA NX.
