Overview
In this quest, you will model, analyze, design, and verify a complete three-span reinforced-concrete T-girder bridge in MIDAS CIVIL NX. You will create the 195 ft bridge superstructure and its substructure, including RC girders, diaphragms, abutments, piers, pier caps, pile caps, piles, and abutment walls. Rigid links, elastic links, plate domains, and pile soil springs will be used to represent structural connections and foundation behavior. You will apply self-weight, superimposed dead loads, crash-barrier loads, and footpath loads. AASHTO LRFD traffic lanes and HL-93 truck and tandem vehicles will then be defined for moving load analysis. After performing the analysis, you will evaluate reactions, deformations, member forces, stresses, and critical vehicle positions. You will also convert a critical moving-load position into a static load case for detailed verification. Finally, you will perform RC beam, column, and plate-column design and checking according to AASHTO LRFD 2020, update reinforcement, and review graphical, summary, and detailed design results. By completing this quest, you will be able to: - Build an RC T-girder bridge with a complete substructure. - Model bearings, rigid connections, piles, and soil springs. - Apply static loads and AASHTO HL-93 moving loads. - Identify and verify critical vehicle-loading positions. - Design and check RC beams, columns, and abutment walls.
