Overview
This tutorial guides you through modeling and analyzing a three-dimensional excavation supported by sheet piles, walling, struts, pegs, and anchors in MIDAS GTS NX. You will construct a 10 m deep excavation within three soil layers and apply the Hardening Soil model to represent nonlinear ground behavior. You will generate ground and structural meshes, create nonlinear interfaces between the sheet piles and soil, and apply anchor pretension. The excavation and support installation will then be simulated through seven construction stages to evaluate ground movement, retaining-member forces, anchor response, and interface behavior. By completing this quest, you will learn how to: - Create a layered 3D ground and excavation model - Apply the Hardening Soil model to different soil layers - Model sheet piles, walling, struts, pegs, and embedded anchors - Generate wall-ground interfaces using the Interface Wizard - Apply anchor pretension and initial ground stresses - Simulate excavation and support installation by construction stage - Review displacement, member forces, interface friction, and relative movement
